The Times Union reports that a motorist died Thursday and his passenger was hospitalized in critical condition after being clipped by another vehicle on Interstate 95 in Jacksonville, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The deceased was northbound in the center lane of the interstate at Bowden Road when he moved to the right into the path of another car in the 10:40 p.m. crash, the Highway Patrol said.  The second driver tried to avoid the accident but clipped the rear of the deceased’s Honda, causing it to veer onto the grass, roll and strike a tree. The driver was killed and the passenger was taken to a hospital in critical condition.  All three Jacksonville residents were wearing seat belts, the FHP said.
