Living in Florida, afternoon showers and thunderstorms are normal, especially in the summer. It is extremely important to use caution when driving in the rain. You should always slow down and turn on your windshield wipers when driving in the rain.

According to the Florida DMV, headlights must be turned on during periods of rain or when ever the windshield wipers are engaged. In Florida you also are not supposed to drive with your hazard lights or “flashers” on. According to the driver’s handbook, “Four-way emergency flashers should only be used while your vehicle is legally stopped or disabled on the highway or shoulder.” You can view other Florida driving safety tips on our website.
